Im trying to get opinions on the best brake options for my 06 F250 King Ranch FX4 6.0 I think that covers it, Im wondering if anyone has tried or is using drilled and slotted rotors on their superduty, or if they will just warp.
I use hawk SD up front and hawk lts out back with stock blank rotors. The truck stops nicely. It stops great once you have a little heat in the pad compound.
I wouldn't waste the money on drilled or slotted rotors. A blank rotor is going to have more pad contact area and more mass for heat dissipation. Opinions vary on the effectiveness of the more expensive rotors. I don't think it is worth the money. A good pad compound is well worth the money.
I found some EBC slotted/drilled rotors on CL for $120 for BOTH!! Put them on my 02 F350 with EBC yellow stuff pads front and rear, AWESOME, you WILL kiss the windshield if you are not careful.
I put some powerslot croyoed rotors on my 02 Ex with Hawk pads, 70k later I just had the rotors turned and new pads, was happy all 70k miles with their performance, haven't really driven it with the NAPA pads yet. One rotor had some bump to the pedal, my NAPA guy said they were really in pretty good shape, especially for living in the mtns!
