The IFS with torsion bars is not easy to fiddle with. Add to that the rollover history and roof strength issues, and lift makers shied away from the Explorer in any and all configurations. However, there are ways to get 1 1/2 to 2" with just a torsion bar twist, and you can raise the back fairly easily. Body lifts are also available, as are some lifts for the front.

Well there are rangers and f150's. If this is also your daily driver, and you arent going to need to haul anything heavy, rangers will probably net you better mpg and lower insurance. They are also shorter and are better for rock crawling in that sense. Now if you want to upgrade this truck to be a beast later on, I would say go f150 or 250
