So I went out to fire up the truck and head into school this morning, turned key to wait for plugs all as normal then all of the sudden everything kicked off DEAD cycle key. Nothin. No glow plug relay click, no dash lights, no gauges no radio nothin. Cigarette lighter has power key off no power in glow plug position. I have glowshift gauges that when I turn the key now go to some red background color that I can't change unless it switches back to blue which is the color I normally have them on. I checked fuses they all seem to be fine. I heard some noise under the dash a clicking sound until I unhooked the batteries behind the cubby hole is where it sounded like it was coming from to me. The sound hasn't come back yet tho. I hooked the varieties back up and it all started as normal. Then a few miles in park brake light came on and went off and my gauges went back to that red color and torque converter wasn't locking in and I had little throttle response. Made it to school and went in to open shop door came back out and gauges and everything were back to normal. Pulled in and shut truck off and cycles key back everything kicked on but gauges back to that red unchangeable color again. Wtf.
How sensitive is the ground strap from the Trans torque converter to the chassis? It's cut about halfway through and I can't tell what's cut into it but is still attached.
It sounds to me like you have power loss somewhere, how are your connections on your batteries?
Do you have any way to test the output of the alternator?
Have you done any mods recently that could effect your electrical system?
I know they may sound like dumb questions, but you know how it is, gotta ask! Just like the old computer tech support question "Is it plugged in, is it turned on?" lol
Hope you get this resolved quickly! Sorry I'm not of more help, but at least this will give you a bump.
