I've had my 2009 XL 2WD since october. Got it for a smokin deal in Cali, brought it back up to Reno. Despite the awesomeness of this truck, a few things seem odd and lead me to believe that it may have originally been manufactured as a fleet vehicle.
The truck has both manual windows and locks...secondly, it came with the most basic of stereos: AM/FM ONLY. No cassette, CD, AUX jack -nothing.
So naturally, I upgraded the head unit with a Double Din Pioneer AVH 2500 BT and purchased the following dash kit for the install
Everything lines up great EXCEPT there is about a half inch space right between the top of the dash kit and the bottom part of the accessory tray that sits right above the console. For some reason, this doesn't line up. Pretty sure I bought the right kit, so what gives? Is this because it may be a fleet vehicle? Is there any way I can confirm it being a fleet vehicle?
It also is a supercab model with an 8ft bed and a heavy duty tow package to boot. I've had a hard time finding similar trucks online with that 8ft bed.
I don't think it being a possible fleet vehicle should make any difference. As for the dash kit not fitting, I have found that sometimes the kits just don't fit perfect...Could be the brand. In my last truck I replaced the stereo and the dash kit I used did fit, but not perfect (few gaps etc.), I just dealt with it...
I looked at some of the reviews and couldn't help but wonder if perhaps there was a possible mounting issue with the radio causing the adapter fascia to not line up right?
