Starter suge while starting
I would assume that my starting is going out on me. When I start the truck, the starter surges. It gets fast then slows and then back to fast. It also pulls the batteries down farther than usual. I do have new batteries, gpr and glow plugs. Is the starter going out?

Are you sure it's not just from a difference in compression among the cylinders? Is it the exact same cycle every time? I would try pulling the PCM fuse and cranking it for a while and try to get a sense of the time. If it's exactly once every two engine revolutions, I would suspect compression. Other thing to try, more work, would be to remove all the glow plugs and crank, see if it's still cyclic.

It does have a distinct cycle to it. I hope the issue isn't major. I went out on a limb buying such an old truck and I have always wanted an OBS. It seems all I do is spend money on it. At least I am not covering the same ground twice!
