Angry Hit a deer!

Hit a deer on my way to work on New Years Eve. First time I have ever needed to file a claim. Really did a number on her. Heres a pic:

Total damage was $7600. Fought with the insurance company and they would not put OEM parts back on. My truck is too old they said. Luckily the body shop is owned by a friend and he is able to get me all Ford parts at the same price or cheaper. He ordered a cowl induction hood which I will look at to see if I like when it comes in. Cant wait to get out of the rental lol.

I'm glad you're getting OEM parts. I still cannot understand this mentality from the Ins Companies. I guess they don't realize that being cheap now will have adverse effects down the road.
Sorry to hear of the collision, but I'm happy to hear that you're being taken care of. Any thoughts or plans for front end protection now?

Thanks. If it wasnt for the body shop, I probably would have strangled someone by now lol. He said he would make it right and so far he has. I would like some kind of front end protection but we are currently saving up for a wedding, so extra funds are being diverted towards that haha. Plus I want to get a Ford ESP before my bumper to bumper runs out. I will definitely be considering it though.

How big was this deer? I'm shocked that the grille and upper bumper took as much impact as they did while the lower bumper actually looks like it took very little impact.

It was a big fat doe. She came out of a swampy thicket about 15' below the road. She jumped the guardrail landed right before the yellow line, took one step and BAM!! I was going about 50 mph and didnt see her until she was already over the rail.. It seems the bumper took a lot of it but her upper body took out the grille, headlight, frigged up the trans cooler, ac condenser and pushed them into the radiator. Tweaked the hood and ruined the LH front fender. Luckily she was flat on the ground when I hit her.

Thanks for the laugh! I didnt really get angry until the bs with the insurance company. The deer died instantly. Not even a twitch afterwards.

Hitting a deer on the road is NO fun. I have not hit one for a few years, but see plenty of them around. Good you're able to get your truck fixed........

That sucks, but at least the truck will get fixed. I've had one deer come out from a tree line, and left his nose impression and a little blood on the drivers window. I needed a shower when I got home anyway's...

They are scammers for sure. But I am still paying less than $500 for $7600 in repairs. That would be pretty tough on my own.
