66 power disc conversion help

Hi guys,

I'm a new member to the site. I am having trouble finding the information I need in the forum searches.

I am wanting to find a power brake booster to finish my disc brake conversion on a 1966 F100. I collected my i-beams and spindles from a 73 F100. I ordered a 73 brake booster master cyl. combo from advanced auto but the mounting pattern is four bolts and huge compared to my smaller two bolt 1966 original. I have seen the dual 8" booster in the kits that look interesting to me. I am having a hard time finding a part number to order the power booster combo without the rest of the kit. I desire something that will bolt in the original location without fabrication to the firewall or brake pedal mount.

If it matters I have already added a 429 from a 70 Torino, c6, 9"rear, and power steering pump. I also have new brakes, hubs, bearings/seals, calipers, wheel cyl, and shoes. and a coil of 3/16 tubing for need brake lines. I also have pulled the proportioning valve off the 73 to distribute brake fluid if needed.

Any help would be great, I seem to have run into a stand still.

Thank you for your time,
James

Did you grab the booster mounting bracket from the '73?

dstrjeeper is correct. You need the firewall to booster brackets to mount the booster to your firewall, should bolt right up using four 3/8" bolts surrounding the hole your push rod passed through (these pass thru firewall and thread into the pedal support bracket under the dash); you will still have to modify/fabricate a connection to your brake pedal though. Go back to the 73 and recover the brackets. I have heard of folks putting 460 cid in and having issues with booster to valve cover clearance though so you may have another issue. I have converted two 66s; one used 79 and the other 75 as donors. The brackets off of the 75 hold the booster up higher compared to the 79 brackets which would offer more valve cover clearance; not sure about the 73.

Thanks guys,

I didn't even look at the donor trucks booster, just bought a new one. I only snatched out the suspension and brake proportion valve. I'll go back to the truck in a few weeks. Hopefully i'll get this project finished for this summer. This truck is in great condition and I cant wait to show it off.
