Front end rotational noise
Recently took a holiday road trip in the '02 Screw 5.4. After a couple of hours on the the interstate I disengaged the cruise and decelerated on the off ramp, I started hearing a ratcheting/rotational noise coming from up front... The noise increases and decreases with speed. At low speeds it sounds like you can hear gears meshing together. I jacked the truck up and the hubs seem to be tight, then I spun the front tires. Right side no problems but I hear the ratcheting when I spin the left just outboard of the differential. The sound doesn't change when I'm in 4WD. I'm beginning to get concerned bout it. It is our daily driver and I want to make sure I get it right so I don't have to buy a bunch of unnecessary parts. Any Ideas?
