Tech question;

Would some one tell me why the intake & exh mnfld are bolted together on my 240 ci 6. I had a '62 Falcon and the two manifolds were one casting. The motor was a 170 ci 6. Great motor. It had an aluminum piece under the carb. One heater hose was piped to it. The hot anti-freeze either was going to the heater core or returning to the motor, I am not sure. Was this doing the same thing as on my 240 intake&exh. being bolted together? Will I need to make it so a heater hose runs thru another alum. block ( that bolts under the carb.)and warms the carb/gas as in my '62 Falcon, ( once I put split exh. mnflds on) or not?
