Rubbing noise while accelerating and decelerating-ball joints?
Before I ask questions, here is the symptom; while slowing down and taking off, there is a rubbing noise at certain frequency (appears like two tires are rubbing although they are not). I just replaced hubs today with Moog brand in hopes of resolving this issue. Looks like it made no difference in noise…Could this be ball joint(that's what the shop told me)? If so, what brand to replace it with?
i had a similar problem. when excelerating the truck would shutter, as well as deceleration , between 28-40 mph. took it to ford did diagnostic found it was the u-joints and carrier bearing. they used the spicer ones, of course ford wanted $750 parts and labor...so i took the shaft off and took it to my nearest driveline place. roughly $200 later all was good. if you do it yourself make sure to mark the driveline on both ends. mine had a red mark on it already.
I for the life of me cant figure out how a ball joint could produce the symptoms you are describing, Like said above its probably a ujoint or the carrier bearing..

Thanks, I think you are right. Any good place to buy these carrier bearing? Surprisingly, there is not much online.
