87 Ford Ranger 2.9 V6 4x4 5 spd.....how do I diconnect internal
hydraulic clutch so I can remove the transmission. Plastic Hyd. hose attaches to a fitting at the top of the bell housing. I believe this is one year before the quick disconnect:

When we did my buddie's 88 a few weeks ago, the Haynes manual said you need a special tool in order to disconnect it. Since we had the tranny half way unbolted already and couldn't just run to the store, we used a pocket knife to depress the ring and pull it out the old fashioned way.

on ur hyd clutch connection.........the tool the haynes refers to is nothing more than a bbq/meat fork. i used an old bbq fork and bent the tines closer to fit the connection. once the tines depressed the ring i could pull her out.
