unknown electrical problem

Exclamation unknown electrical problem

I have a 1992 f250 7.3 idi. the truck has ran great for the 6 months that ive owed it but a couple days ago I went to start it and the tachometer, the oil pressure gauge and the battery gauge have stopped working. the transmission is now not down shifting as well. any suggestions?

Check your fuses, especially the one for your dome lights.

My previous comment about the dome/interior light fuse affects the speedometer so, it may not be on the same circuit.

I checked all of the fuses and all of them are fine. I didn't realize it at the time but my gas gauge and oil temperature gauges aren't working either

Everything you said that died runs off of the same fuse, fuse 17, it also runs the overdrive cancel switch and diesel warning lights (water in fuel, wait to start, plugged fuel filter, engine warning and low vacuum switch)and the warning chime.

If the indicators are working and the fuse is good, I would pull the instrument cluster and see if one of the plugs on the back has a dirty connection.

Sounds like your cluster is bad. Had the same thing happen to the one in my '93. It will definitely cause your E4OD to act up as well.
