Question best 4x4 Explorer?

I dont know if this is the right forum for this tread but I askde in the explorer forum and did not get a answer so here goes.
What year TTB 4x4 explorer is the best for mild trail driving? I have a 88 4x4 B2 now( love it) but its not big enough for the family and all the gear. Thanks for any help!

I think 1995 was the last year for the TTB since I drove one, others say 1994 and they are probably right, though you never know what Ford does at the end of a year or with spare parts

I do not think there is any real difference from 90-94.

1994 4.0 5 speed would do well. I would skip the limited slip if possible in case you ever want a locker in the rear. In case you are thinking about it, skip the sport 2 door. 4 door is much nicer to load things into.

Do a carfax report on whatever you buy and try only to buy a one owner so you do not get a lemon or rental vehicle.

I also don't think there is any difference in suspension designs from 91-94 (I think that's why no one posted a response in the Explorer forum). The only recommendations I've seen are to maybe avoid the '91 (first model year bugs) and to show a slight preference for the '94 (after 7-8 years, Ford was finally starting to get the A4LD to almost be strong enough for it's application). but none of those things relates to the suspension.

94 was supposed to be a good year, consumer reports seemed to recomend them, seems like that's when they got all the kinks worked out. Had bad luck with a 92 and my roomates 91 has not held up good either.
