1967 f250 highboy w/stock 5 leaf springs mounted on a dana 44. I am debating whether or not to use 78-79 3 leaf. I am going to buy or re-arch springs. I would imagine the 3 spring would ride nicer but I am worried about ride height. I do not want my front any lower at all.
Dropping in a 460 and will gain some weight in front.
General Spring has 6 leaf @ 1550 for $260 a set and 3 leaf @ 2750 for $340 a set.
A true heat treated re-arch with an added leaf is $260 a set here in town.

Not spending $600 for aftermarkets.
IMHO, I'd drop the 460 1st. Then I'd do the local shop thing. You can always take 'em back for tweaking.
If that you you want ride height, then you want a positive arch spring which is what your 67 has. The 78-79 springs are a negative arch spring and won't give you the height that you need. If you want to maintain your height, go with positive arch springs. Just compare yours with any 78-79 and you will see that there is a difference. It is not called a Highboy for nothing. I know this as I have a 70 and a 76 crew with a 79 regular cab. There is a difference.
Stock stack up is what I want then. I found that General Spring wants $100 for shipping. I think I will go re-arch with the extra spring. I called today and they said heat treat with re-arch to stock will only last about 75% of new springs and that is why they install another leaf to make it last even longer. He said as long as I am not stump jumping they will last for many years at stock height. He said they will only over arch 1". I don't think I was being BSed
I use the truck for hunting, going to the dump, picking up stuff at the building supply, helping ungrateful friends move their stuff, and cruising for fat chicks.....

He MAY have been speaking about the Lift springs for a 78/79 Application......Per, everything ive been told, and what i saw yesterday on a 77-1/2 Lowboy, the stock negative arch springs are 2 leaf, not 3........Ive got 2 highboys, one has the standard 6 leaf, the other has 3 leaf, positive arch springs in the front( I know they arent stock, and i already KNOW its truly a Highboy) and the 77, 3 leafer also has a previous owner installed 460, both trucks(76 and 77) are on 33" tires, and the 77 sits higher........take a look at the photo, the blue one sits higher with 3 leaf, positive arch springs
