I have been doing some research and am stuck trying to figure out whether or not the transmission I have can be used in my 4wd conversion. It is a Borg Warner (not sure if T18 or T19) it is behind a 460 bb in a 1984 f250. I have a transfer from a c6 which was behind a 351m.
(I will be posting pictures of the project when I start tearing apart the truck, but it has to wait until spring being there is a little more than a foot of snow on the ground.)
Any transmission can be swapped with any transfer case IF, the tranny is a 4x4 tranny. You cannot use a 2wd tranny, and if you try to convert a 2wd tranny to a 4x4 tranny, you have to take the tranny completely apart and you need the proper 4x4 pieces to put in the tranny to make it a 4x4 tranny.
So if you have a t19(460's used a t19) that is a 4x4 tranny, and a transfer case that was bolted to a c6, yes they will work together. Just make sure you get the proper shifter linkage for the t19.
