steering locks up

steering locks up at idle when turning or when you put on breakes

Have you checked the power steering fluid level? The hydroboost unit may be going out on you.

steering

fluid ok . today i set driveway turn wheels back and forth. when I hit the brakes the steering locked up every once in a while . think it might be the booster. thanks 4 info

I think I would try flushing the PS fluid before changing the hydroboost. It doesn't take that long, is not that difficult of a job, and might save you a bunch of $$$$.

Would a brittle belt cause this? Just a thought. If it's old, brittle and cracked it could definitely contribute to the problem. I'd recommend an inspection on the belt.
