Tire question

I had a flat the other day on the rear 95 F250 4x4 5.8L Manual. I had a spare changed over on the rim. Problem being that the spare I had put on is approximately 1 inch taller than the other rear tire. How big of a chance is it that the rear end will blow from running 2 different height tires? Can I take that odd ball tire and put it on the front as long as I don't use the 4x4? I need to buy another tire I know, I just won't have the money for about a week and my other car has a blown head gasket, it's just been to darn cold to work on it. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

Best bet would be running it on front, but i don't think you will hurt the rear diff unless you have a locker or posi. Did it last year for a few days without any issues.

As far as I know the rear end is stock. I've driven it about 60 miles like it is back and forth to work but I'm just paranoid because I always heard DO NOT run tires like that because it'll blow the diff.

A trac-lock was available from the factory. Check the data plate on the driver door jamb. H9 is a 3.55 trac-lock I know because my Bronco has it and I think a trac-lock 4.10 is either H1 or H4 but I can't remember But I'm pretty sure the code for any trac-lock starts with an H

I don't see anything on the door tag that says H9 or trac-lock. This site won't allow me to post pictures or attachments.

Put it on the front. The rear spider gears will be spinning continuously since one side will be spinning faster than the other, as if you were turning.

Is there a 19,14, or 11? That would mean you have an open carrier for the rear differential

I would not worry about running the New tire on one side and old tire on the other UNLESS you have limited slip

On your door jam sticker

Under "axle" it will have a 2 digit code

OPEN axles

12---------2.73 gear ratio
17---------3.31 gear ratio
18---------3.08 gear ratio
19---------3.55 gear ratio
25---------4.10 gear ratio
29---------3.55 gear ratio
35---------4.10 gear ratio
39---------3.55 gear ratio
45---------4.10 gear ratio
49---------3.55 gear ratio
65---------4.10 gear ratio
68---------4.88 gear ratio
69---------3.55 gear ratio
72---------4.63 gear ratio
73---------5.13 gear ratio

LIMITED SLIP AXLES

B5----------4.10 gear ratio
B9----------3.55 gear ratio
C5----------4.10 gear ratio
C9----------3.55 gear ratio
D5----------4.10 gear ratio
F5----------4.10 gear ratio
H4----------3.54 gear ratio
H5----------4.10 gear ratio
H7----------3.31 gear ratio
H8----------3.08 gear ratio
H9----------3.55 gear ratio

Thank your replies. The Axle is 39 So I guess that means an open Axle.

blkF250HD, I'm going to switch tires today anyway. I did not realize that the rear tires actually had tubes in them. I have an extra 235/85/16 at the house. It's real low on tread but it has to be better than running a tube. The other 3 tires are General Ameritrac TR 235/85/16's while this one is a Goodyear 7.50x16. It's an old snow tire that looks like what you used to see on small dump trucks back in the 70's. I really didn't think much of them until they started going flat.

Again, thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it.
