I have an 06 F-250 i have had this truck since Oct 2013 and had never use 4 wheel drive here in southern Alabama, so my question is i lock my hubs, turn my selector to 4 high and it works. Now selecting to 4 low and i get nothing. Any ideas what may it be any suggestions would be appreciated thanks Jim.

Hi Jim,
You can download the owners guide for your truck at www.motorcraftservice.com. I suggest reading up on the 4WD system.
You should not have to to do anything with your hubs unless they have been altered by the previous owner. There is no unlock setting, they are either "auto" or "lock". When you turn the selector switch to 4-hi a vacuum is applied to the hubs which locks them automatically. So unless something is broke there is never a reason to manually lock the hubs.
To shift to 4-lo you need to be going less than three miles per hour with your foot on the brake and the truck in neutral.
MisterCMK ii have manuel locking hubs turn it clockwise to lock and counterclockwise to free then turn switch in cab to 4high or 4low. So I got 4 high but not 4 low, but Tom said to put it inneutral . With the brakes on and switch to 4 low and then it should go into 4 low.
I had a similar problem with my 2011 Ranger. Brand new truck and wouldn't go into 4lo. I messed around with it and put it in reverse, backed up a couple inches, put it in drive and it locked into 4lo. Not sure if it was in a bind or what.

If you have the switch on the dash your hubs aren't manual. As I said above, the two positions are "auto" or "lock". You just leave them in auto and they work automatically. If not then something is wrong. The only time you should ever use the "lock" position is if something is broken.
I put mine in lock for the snowy winter here because even though the esof works it goes into lock better without it. I have been in places where there was no room to roll back and forth a bit to get it to lock up.
