Is there a Main Computer or Brain on the 93 Explorer that almost all electrical functions pass through??? If so, could it have an affect on my fuel gauge not working as listed below? If not, where would I start looking for my fuel gauge problem (tank's float and sending unit or instrument panel).
Now, any suggestions on my 93 Explorer's fuel gauge that stopped working on about a 50 mile trip. Tips: the oil pressure gauge was not working the first 50 miles. It started working and the fuel gauge stopped. Do you think they are related?? My old Volvos had like voltage regulators or etc. that gauges shared. Do you think this could be the situation with my Explorer. My electrical diagrams are not showing the instruments.
My new turn signal switch solved my turn signal problems after I discovered I had put the old switch in versus my new switch. When you are tired and frustrated, jobs can become harder!!!
There is a small circuit board that plugs into the left rear of the instrument panel (you will not find it in a Haynes manual electrical schematic) that can affect the fuel gague operation. I suspect it is a voltage regulator and may also feed other gagues. I traced the lead from the gague thru it before it runs back to the tank sensor/float. To get to it, you need to pull the instrument panel out .
