Hi guys. Sorry to ask what probably is a terribly fundamental question, but I have a brake pedal assembly in my truck which I think belongs to a Chevy, possibly anything up to mid eighties at a guess.
It is missing two switches. I guess one is brake light and the other may be for cruise control? Not sure. It also appears as though the pedal has been chopped short to make room for the steering column. (When I fitted the new column, I just used the original hole.) Again, not sure
The pedal seems to flop around very badly, left to right so I am thinking there must be some kind of spring arrangement missing under there as well. Seems pretty bad to me.
This is my final frontier I think. There's not much left to finish on the truck, but this has me a bit stumped. Maybe I should just look for a replacement pedal assembly similar to this one?
get a brake light switch at NAPA or wherever you choose out of a mid 80's chevy Van or Pickup . Examine it closely in the store to be sure it will fit .As to the side ways slack in the pedal . It probably needs new bushings .
The factory brake pedal pivot pins appears to have been replaced with a nut and bolt. You need to find the pivot pin, the pin buschings, and pin clip to take the side to side slop out of the pedal assembly.
Got it, Oldmerc. We don't have Napa here, but will follow on your suggestion.
Heck! Branded... You're right on the money! I didn't give it a moment's thought! Knew there was a reason I asked you guys! LOL! I'll get to it and stop hasslin' you all with silly questions.
