Engine mounts question

I started converting my 79 f150 4x4 300i6 over to a 302 I got my engine stands off a 78 f250 4x4 400 and when I went to put my new v8 stands on the frame it did not line up, what problem do I have here?

I believe the F-150 4x4 and F-250 4x4 use different frame stands. Pretty sure you will need stands for a F-150 4x4 with a 302. I don't know if the 302 and 351/400 used the same stands.

Perhaps ND will see this and supply you with the proper part numbers / interchange.

Good luck.

302 and 351/400 stands will interchange between F-150 2wd and F-250 2wd.
I know 2wd and 4wd stands are different when dealing with F-250's. Not 100% sure about the F-150 4wd.

Did your research differ between 2wd and 4wd? F-150 and F-250?

Maybe we can't believe everything we read on the internet!

I have been researching this same thing From the Master Parts catalog. It appears that you can use the same mounts just adjust where they bolt to the frame(4WD) or cross member(2WD). For 300 use forward most holes and rearward for 302,351 and 400. Here are the two pages and a pic of my 2WD setup for the 300.

Good information.

Have you checked the text portion of the catalog? The illustrations are "typical" and show the basic numbers for the parts, 6028 right and 6029 left.
Not trying to knock your research, that is what it will take to answer the OP's question. Just want to be sure all the research is done.

There are no Ford part numbers, because there is no such thing as an F100 302 with 4WD, no such thing as an F150 302 with 4WD until 1980.

1980 and later parts do not interchange with 1979 and older.

2WD same engine supports (6028/6029) aka towers/stands/perches: 1969/79 F100 302, 1975/79 F150 302, 1977/79 F100/350 351M/400.

Parts catalog pics of 6028/6029 applications: Left (upper) & Right: 240/300 I-6 / Left (lower): 351M/400.
