Yep and it won't ever fully warm up idling. It needs some EGT's to warm up fully.

A good 20-30 minutes depending on EGT's and outside temps for me.

idling will only get you to 130-140 degrees on my truck and it really doesn't start making heat until it gets to 160 degrees. You likely don't have the supplemental heat options from what it sounds. I do and love it, but I'm just pointing that out if someone says that they get heat faster than you do (so you would know why). If the driving time isn't at least 20 minutes with some decent RPM's this is normal. If you are driving longer than that and still no heat, then maybe something is wrong.

30 min at idle? Cause that wont warm it.How long is your drive?

On edit you say 15 min ride..Thats why it doesnt warm fully.Highway speeds help

you are wasting a bunch of fuel letting idle for 30 minutes. Start it, let it warm for 2-3 minutes then drive off slowly.

You will get heat sooner and save on fuel.

As long as you don't romp on it when cold there is no harm. Maybe even better for the motor.

Only problem with that when its 5 degrees out is the windshield fogs over completely.Atleast mine does.So I let it warm just enough to get past that point and drive off.

Do you have the supplemental heating option? It's not much for heat, but it will defrost the windows real quick.

In those temperatures, 30 minutes of driving may not be enough to reach full operating temp. As far as heat goes, my truck with the supplemental produces heat fairly quick but my brother's truck without it seems to take forever. It is hard to thaw one of these trucks out since they don't build much heat sitting around idling. Find something to block more than 50% of your radiator off with and that will help.
