Oil leak

Looks like I have an oil cooler leaking engine oil. Anybody want to fill me in on what I'm looking at as far as difficulty of the repair?

This has made a large mess in a short period of time.

Thanks

Where exactly is the cooler leaking?not a bad job to do but you will completly drain the coolant from the block when doing it.

R & I the front header is the only difficult part . I have read from one poster he left it on & had plenty of places for leverage to press it back together after replacing the O rings

Just did mine. It wasn't hard at all, just time consuming and quite messy. Like said above the front cooler end is the hardest part with minimal room to get your hands and tools in there to get the top bolt out. I took mine all the way out so I could replace both gaskets as well as the O-rings. No way did I want to do it all over again after that mess to change out the one bad gasket I didn't replace, so I did everything.

What I did to get to the top bolt on the front cover was to remove both upper and lower radiator hoses, and used a 1/4" drive ratchet with a deep well socket (10mm IIRC). Just had to be patient cause I had to use the ratchet to unthread and rethread the entire bolt cause I couldn't get my hand in there.

All the bolts on the front header can be reached with extensions ,from the LF w/O even with the the tire in place along with the the splash shield . the hardest part is holding the front gasket in place for installation

Same here. Fixed up my fuel pump/fuel canister leaks. No more over powering raw fuel smell, but wait, what's that? A whiff of sweet smell from my motor? Coolant? Yup. And oil. Set of rings and gaskets on the way, next warm weekend it'll get sealed.
