Is this normal?

 

No.......thousands of batteries get changed each day without the light going on (was just going to say “no” but the forum wanted a longer answer)

 

Ok, I've heard some vehicles do and wasn't sure about this one.

 

Pull the cable back off. Let it set an hour, then reinstall and see if it clears.

 

Battery light illuminated doesn't sound right. After getting that straightened out check Operator's manual for any battery replacement procedure routine it specifies.

Don't forget to follow the instructions in the owner's manual regarding changing and/or the battery and the need to rest the BMS (Battery Management System).*NOTE: FoMoCo dealership service can reset the BMS using their IDS (Intergrated Diagnostic System) negating the eight hours of vehicle sleep time requirement.
