I have a 2000 explorer XLT and I want to change all of my interior lights to blue. I want the cluster, window switches, a/c unit and everything else blue. I just bought a blue stereo so that's one less thing. Does anyone know what types of lights and how many lights there are and where I can get them and how to change them
Many of the lights in the various switches are going to be LEDs. To change them, you'll want to install blue LEDs and get a variety of current limiting resistors to get the brightness right. The forward voltage drop of a blue LED is around 3.2V versus the 1.8V or so of a green LED, therefore you'll need to size the resistor accordingly.
I don't recall the part number of the bulbs in the instrument cluster, or if in the 2000 model year they used bulb covers to set the color or some other method. You may need to remove the cluster and check to be sure. If they use bulb covers you could always replace the bulbs with blue LEDs.
