We are getting together a group buy on steering boxes if y'all are interested. Please post answer in the 73-79 forum if your interested. More info available there if your interested. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post13900318
Buy dates are set, Jan 13,14,15. Call them to place your order,(800-808-1148), tell them you are part of the "group buy", and discounts will be awarded according to how many units sold. You do not have to mention the forum.
Thanks Carl
Replaced the king pins and got an alignment about a month ago and that helped a lot. The gear box is pretty sloppy now. Can turn the steering wheel several inches without moving the tires - and this on top of a very easy PS set up. I'm hoping this Redhead seals the deal. Will let you know how it works.

Just called them... my 64 F100 manual box base price is $266 so hoping to get it a little cheaper with this group buy on the 13th!
Got her installed and the slop is all gone! The headers made the install a little tricky - had to come up instead of down to get it out. Had to have the toe re-adjusted as well. Just wrapped up the old core and sent it back. BTW, they did a pretty sloppy job of packing the new one. It was in a pretty flimsy box and it was starting to emerge from the side when it arrived. It seemed to all be just fine but you'de think they would take a little more care in packaging a 50 lb hunk of cast steel. It was definitely packed better for the return flight
Good luck rounding up a group to get a discount. Mine was $266 as well with a $125 core charge that I will get back soon. I would advise buying the two-way shipping. They only charged me $44 for the return and by weight it would have been well over $60 by UPS - they get a business discount.
I ordered a box today for my 64. They indicated it would ship in a couple of days. I am excited to have a completely rebuilt steering. I did the king pins, tie rod ends, and pan hard rod last year. The turn signal replacement is waiting on the shelf. It will be good to have self canceling turn signals.
Just got off the phone with REDHEAD, 28 units sold. So, $40 off units less than $300. $50 off off units more than $300. Your discount will be credited with your core refund when they receive your old unit back. Great job everyone that participated and those that talked it up or gave it a bump, (intentional or otherwise).
