[QUOTE=CLINT-THE-GREAT;13958301]Everyone only seems to think about Vegas when they think about Nevada... and Vegas is as far south as you can get. I have made several trips across I-80 in northern Nevada... and even in the fall it can get really chilly!!!

Laughlin NV is as far south as you can get in Nevada. It is about 90 south of Las Vegas. We live across the river from Laughlin.
But as you know Las Vegas maybe the most populated part of Nevada, but hardly represents any of the rest of the State in politics, beautiful country, weather, or things to do & see. I remember going to Las Vegas as a kid when it was much smaller than Reno @ the time 1950s. In State history Reno was the place to be & where all the money, power & prestige was. The movie starts stayed in Reno, got divorces, & even lived there. When I was a very young boy & girls started looking good my sweetheart of that time was the daughter of a partner of Frankie Lanes. I was introduced as a young boy to many famous people of that era. I lived in Reno in the 50s until the early 60s.
Reno had a minor league baseball team that was a farm club of the LA Dodgers Many of the players went on to the Majors. Us kids use to hangout at the field & got to know many of the players. Maybe the most famous of that time was Willie Davis, & Jim LaFever who pitched many years in the majors & went on to be a pitching coach of the SF Giants & on to manage the Seattle Mariners.
Thanks for letting me relive some very wonderful childhood memories.
