powder coating chrome?

I was wondering if anyine has ever had chrome bumpers powder coated. Im wanting to color match my bumpers hunter green to match my 08 and i know its very hard to get paint to stick to chrome so powder coating popped in my head. Anyone have it done before and did it stay on?

Proper powder coater will sandblast the bumpers first to remove existing coating. I had my bumpers done and it was great, no rock chips after 2 or 3 years whatever it was. Both bumpers were painted bumpers though. One off a king ranch and the other from an f550.

Thats what i was hoping to hear!!! It would save me alot of time and money to powdercoat than buy factory paintable ones , have them painted and then try and sell the chrome ones.

Best thing to do though is ask the powder coater, see what they say.

Im not sure sandblasting will be able to get through the chrome plating. Definitely ask.

I asked about getting my bumpers sprayed with bedliner material and the shop said they needed to remove all the chrome plating to make everything stick. I wouldn't think it would be any different with paint.

Maybe you could find someone with the painted bumpers and see if they want to swap. It would be a win-win for everyone.
