I looked on Amazon for this scanner and came up with a few choices. Is there a model # or link you might be able to post? Thanks.
Review post 26 on page 2, for a suggested vendor for consideration. I believe vendor BAFX is now offering a WiFi model ELM, & if so, we now have two choices to choose from, Bluetooth &. WiFi.
FORScan charges a few $ for their smart phone program, but their generic program to use with Windows on a laptop, etc., is no cost, unless you want/need their newer enhanced program that'll touch Factory things a Dealers tool wont, then maybe it's worth a look if you come to believe you need it, I didn't need the enhanced version to solve my problems.
BUMP:
If you are having ELM connection, performance, streaming data drop-outs, etc operational problems, check your ELM delay time performance, & refer to the FORScan chart for a general performance rating, or read through the other pages for info on other problems found & fix suggestions. I needed to read the error codes on my 2002 Ford Ranger. I saw an ad for a ELM device from a company called FIXD on this forum recently, so I bought the device When it arrived I discovered that more money (a monthly subscription) would need to be paid out to use the phone app for the device. I downloaded the app to my iPhone and plugged the FIXD device into my truck and was able to read the codes one time. A week later I was charged $69.99! I do not recall ever authorizing FIXD to take anymore money from my account. Do NOT buy the FIXD device, it is a ripoff!
Get on the phone with your credit card company and dispute the charge as not authorized. They should credit your account and charge the account of FIXD.
Recommended for Fords is FORSCAN software and a good USB/WiFI connected OBD-II adapter. A respected brand adapte(recommended) is about $30 from the Far East or DaRiver or DaBay.
