man.leak or valve ping??

man.leak or valve ping??
The title is pretty much my question.
Basicaly its like this: Its a 360 by the way with stock manifolds(only for another week tho), and everything else for that matter.
So, After about 5 mins of driving, there becomes a frapping sound from inside cab, doesnt really speed up as I gas it, but when I pop the hood and listen, it sounds like a/the valves hitting the valve cover, kind of sounds like manifold leak too. Im not familiar with the sounds of either so I cant distinguish which is which, any help or info would be great, and much appreciated. A friend said it was manifold leak (his dads truck doing same thing he said) and now its coming from both sides.
And yeah, I am noticing some weak power.
Im getting some Hedman headers next week whether its manifolds or not but, it would be nice to know, it sounds like crud.

I would suggest pulling one valve cover (since it's coming from both sides) and taking a look. It could possibly be exhaust leaks also. However if your noticing power loss I would venture a gues at the valve train. Use a long piece of hose when it is doing it and locate, as close as you can, where the sound is actually coming from.

Um..yeah I will go and try takinfg off pass. side cover, thats where it started, and I tried taking off the driver side a couple months ago and couldnt get it off....I didnt want to pry it off either, but Its not like i tried for an hour or more.

I got the pass. side cover off, was quite easy, popped of with my fingers, anyway, i listened to it and it is the valves making the noise. which ones exactly I sure dont know.
I found a 429cj somewhere close and he wants roughly 1,000 canadian. Im thinkin I should get a grand and go pick er up.
