Will they fit??

hello everyone
i am current seeking advice on if the rims i really want will work out for my project mud truck. the truck is a 77 f250 with a eight bolt pattern, i found these used military rims that are cheap and have tires to fit at decent price and in my area. i was wondering if a rim with a 7" back spacing would be to large. any way here is a link to the rims. any feed back will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading

welcome to FTE.
i think the backspacing on those rims is a little too much for ford trucks.
7 inches is going to put the tire real close to the front spring when turning.

Do not know on the 24 bolt rims, but I believe the older 12 bolt style will bolt on the back end of a F250 D60, but I am pretty sure they will not bolt on the front.

They will hit the tie road ends, so you have to get them recentered to use on the front.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking that the 7" off set would be to large because the average that i have seen for off set is something like 4-5". its nice to know that the old style of 12 bolt rims might fit I'll have to do some more digging to find some specs on them.

No they will NOT fit on the front with out RECENTERING them. Meaning either taking them to a shop and getting the center cut out and get new "press in centers" put in and welded.

Or get just busy yourself, if you are that good. I am not that good, so I still have the rims and have not payed to get them recentered.

But I have a ton of other projects anyway and have another rig to go wheel in the meantime. Here are my spares BL's just in case....

Here is some info on recentering.

Thanks for the reply but i do not have the skill or equiptment to take on that project lol. I think i am just going to look for a set of ford factory 16.5in rims to put the tires that i have found on but they may be to narrow

I think most older aluminium 16.5 rims are 8.75 or 9.75. and steel one are 10 to 12 wide. The alum spokes on the left and right are 10" wide, slots in the middle are 9.75

I believe the most common found 33x12.50x16.5 will fit on a 9.75 ok and the same for a 35x12.50x16.5. And the military 36's or 37's x12.50x16.5 also.

Be prepared to hear all the bad talk about 16.5's rims and loosing a bead when aired down, due to the rim design.

So don't air down, mash the gas pedal instead, lol

great i though the 16.5 were a bit narrower than that and I found 37x12.5x16.5 under 150 a tire with 80% life left!. I was wondering do you think i could get away with airing down if i got a weld in beadlock kit? here is a link to the tires if would like more details.

Those are the MTR, a pretty good tire and the best and latest of the three style's run on military HUMVEE.

That's a little steep IMO for those military takeoffs, you would croak if you know what he pays for hundreds of them. I am sure he gets them in a DRMO auction, for cheap.

But that price beats buying them at new prices. How is shipping going to be they, they have some weight to them.

They should go on a 9.5 to 10 rim just fine, they run them on a standard H 1 rim that is 8.25 wide, and hopefully some one else will chime in here to support that call.

I know they are nice looking tires and tough. Im sure that they are relatively cheap to the guy selling them that all he specializes in! do you of any other resalers? but it DEFINATLY is better than new price, other brand price or even retreads! and here is the kicker of this whole deal the guy that retails has a shop about an hour from where i live so shipping is gas price lol

with the exception of the superdutys, i have 16.5 tires ans rims on all my trucks. and have never ever ever had a problem with tires popping the beads, even when aired down to 5 lbs pressure for beach running.

I think airing down for beach driving is fine and is a little different than a airdown for rock crawling. And the issues with the 16.5 rim in a none beadlock set up you can blow a bead fairly easy. So airdown to 15 to 20 and wheel just be a little careful.

Here is a different idea on beadlocks and you get both the inner and outer locked on there.

How low you go in air pressure depends on what type of terrain you are going to drive on.
