ok here we go. i have an 09 cc 4x4 with the 5.4 and 3.55 gears. how much weight has anyone pulled with this set up? my concern is with the gear ratio. i have a boat thats pushing between 6500-7000 lbs.
One issue with that setup will be tongue weight any payload rating. Also, is your boat 7000 lbs without trailer, or is that total trailer and boat weight?
Truck will be able to pull it, assuming you have trailer brakes, a good controller, and you aren't over much on the payload.
The 6 speed makes those 3.55s perfectly acceptable gears to tow with.... Not that they are bad gears to begin with, but you should be just fine... won't win any races, but you'll do fine.
You also did not mention which wheelbase configuration you have. That should all make a difference as far as handling.
I have (almost) the same configuration and IIRC I can tow 9300lbs. Don't tow much so I'd have to look it up in the manual if I was close to GCVW to be sure
You will have no trouble with that much weight. Of course the profile of the trailer has a lot to do with it as well, and a boat that big is going to be a bit of a wind sail. If you had an '08 with the old 4R75E then the gears would be of mild concern, but with your much better 6R80 power will not be an issue for you.
