where is the vin

I found a 1952-1954 ford f100 that was an abandoned project years ago. A guy I know bought it out of a field about 5 years ago without a title. I can get a title if I can find the vin. It has a custom flat bed and custom stainless gas tanks custom hand painted pinstripes and the front clip flips forwards like a vette. I can buy it for 300 bucks cause the floor boards are gone and it is pretty rusted. It has been mated onto a Chevrolet frame with Chevy chevel front suspension and set up for a Chevy 350 and th350 trans. But I need to know where the vin is.

Ford trucks of that vintage had the ID numbers stamped in the passenger side top of the frame rail in the area of the front wheel. Possibly a tag on the passenger side cowl or glove compartment door.
Since your truck is now on a Chevy frame and original ID gone, I suggest you contact your state DMV with well thought out and presented questions.
This subject has been discussed on here many times. Search works quite well.
Good luck.

Well I haven't bought it yet but I have been considering it I contacted the tx DPS and I can get a title through a titleing company or bonded title if I can get the vin for the cab. But if the cab has no vin I have to tear it to pieces take it to them they have to inspect it then I have to put it all together they have to inspect it again and upon passing inspection they will issue a builders title and vin but it is a Hassel and expensive option. So I will probly go look at the truck again and search for a vin if there is no vin present I may buy it any ways for the parts or find a cab and go from there. But not being able to find the vin is most likely going to be a deal breaker

Notes: First 48-52 pickups were called bonus builts and the models were designated F1, F2, F3, etc. Ford then changed both the design and model designations in 53 onward to F-100, F-250, F-350 etc.
No manufacturer issued VIN #s until the format was standardized in 1981, before that they identified the vehicle with a serial # in a format of the manufacturer's own choosing. In Pre VIN years only the unique serial # carried on the chassis was the legal identifier. No other part of the vehicle carried the serial #. Sometimes an ID tag was attached to the body with the serial # and other info for convenience, but it did not carry any legal "weight". Ford attached an ID tag to the inside of the glove box door with screws on the 48-55 year trucks.
When the original chassis was removed from your truck, the original serial # legally went away with that chassis, and the rest of the truck became a pile of parts that resembled some year Ford truck. When those parts were mounted on the Chevy chassis they legally became a Chevy truck of whatever year the chassis was built in with whatever serial number (if pre 1981) or VIN # (if the chassis is post 1981) that was originally assigned to the Chevy chassis.
In other words, in simple terms you are looking at a legal hot mess! IMHO It is not worth dragging home even if FREE,

I don't know what year the cab is I know its pretty 1956 cause it does not have the bid rear window. It has a 54 grill but that doesn't mean much either. I would like it for the gas tanks bed and front clip cause it flips forwards but I don't know how much they are worth.

Google the various year trucks to see pictures of each year. If it indeed has a 54 grill it must be a 53-56, the 54 grill will not fit on a 48-52. The big back window was an extra cost and rare option available on the 53-56, F-100 only (no F100 had a flatbed) so it does not designate the year.
Unless the flip front is fiberglass it is only worth whatever the original parts are worth, and that depends on condition and model. If you post some pictures we can give you a better idea of what you are looking at. Again IMHO 300.00 would be some expensive gas tanks since a flatbed is just a simple frame with wood boards on top and have little value.

The front end is not fiberglass its a factory steel front end that has been welded together. When I check it out I will post pictures. Thank you again

All 1956's have a wraparound windshield.

1954 grille:

Rating Plate usually found on the inside of the glove box doors of 1948/56 F series trucks. Serial number composed of 11 digits.

Since the frame has been swapped, the only hidden VIN will apply to the Chevy. I dunno where it will be located.

Best bet would be to find another stock frame for it and switch over the body, or find a similar truck, with title, and make one truck from the two. Or just part it out...

If it is a 56 and the body is in good shape it would be worth it to buy it if for nothing else but parts. 56 Cabs with doors go for $350 up! No title. It shouldn't be too hard to find a Frame if you want to make it into a truck again.
VIN Numbers on my 56s are both on the passenger side upper rail very near the cab the data plates were on the drivers door post just below the top hinge. My 53s are closer to the radiator support and data plates were attached to the inside of the glove box door.
