What are you using to monitor data? 2200 plus PSI of ICP is plenty of pressure. How does the truck act while cranking at that pressure? Any smoke out the tailpipe? Does it sounds like it's trying or does it just fast spin?
Can you monitor pulse width or buzz test the injectors?
injector 1 is high to low open. thats the only buzz test code i get
if i spray some either she will try to start but won't start. turns over good. no smoke out of tail pipe.
without either it wont even try to kick.
just pulled ipr and took it apart. plunger does move. possibly bad coil?
yes oil in connector, cleaned and replaced it already. same thing.
yes they buzz test, number 1 failed and said high to low open.
fuel pressure is ok aswell
i can't see the 1 injector making the truck not run at all. also in the past i have had 7.3 trucks fail buzz tests on multiple injectors and ran fine..
this truck does not even TRY to start.. just cranks
How are you testing fuel pressure and how much FP do you have?
On these you have a pipe plug in the front of the head on the passenger side that is where have to put a gauge, kinda PITA.
50% duty cycle and 3,000 psi cranking won't hurt anything. How long as the truck been sitting?
With no smoke, the injectors are not firing. We need to figure out why. Oil level full? Any work done to it before the no start? How long does it take to build up to 2 or 3 thousand psi when cranking?
Thank you for coming back and letting everyone know what the problem was. So many times there is a question which hopefully gets resolved, but the original poster does not come back with the solution. The reason I find this site so helpful and interesting is that there is an opportunity to learn in little steps by reading each short troubleshooting story. These otherwise complicated vehicles then begin to make a lot of sense to even those like me without any formal diesel training. Glad you got it fixed. That is why that sensor is in many glove boxes or tool boxes. The tach not bouncing during cranking is supposedly a sign of a bad sensor, not sure if that is always the case.

There probably was a reason why the engineers made the change in the tach operation, but it sure seems like auto manufacturers and their suppliers have an endless stream of changes even during a single year. Job security, maybe? It is a little bit like going to Costco, even the employees don't know where the peanut butter is, they move it all the time.
