If the DIY approach isn't your thing, I recommend making an appointment at your dealer so they can track down the noise and get it repaired. Feel free to PM me as well; I'll look into ways to help as well. In your message, please include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership.
I'll pull up a chair and join the "SuperDuty rattles" support group
Tho mine's a squeak? Thought it was coming from the steering column....after some more miles and experimentation I discovered it's from the main dash "hump" above the gauge cluster.
Every stinkin time I come down to idle.... brrrrrzzzzzzzrrrrrrrzzzzzzz
lol most of the time the radio's up so loud it doesn't bother me, but when the missus is riding she particularly points it out, thanks hon
I can make it go away for a few by pushing or pulling on the ledge, and I just accept the truck's going to have interior creaks or rattles, it's a 3/4ton suspension
Crystal- extended warranties don't cover squeaks or rattles, says my fine print.....otherwise I might get it fixed while in service for some other issue
Troy, Ill pick up what your puttin down... and im willing to do the door seal mod as ive been wanting to for a while anyway. the only hold up is i dont want to use the latex tubing as it will break down sooner than later and leave me with having to do it all over again excpet having to now deal with the old stuff inside the seals. I really want the rattle gone tho....
I am sure you are not talking about the same rattle but sometimes things sound like one place but are in another. I had a weird rattle and it turned out to be my trailer hitch. The reducer rattling within the hitch. IT Drove me crazy for a while til I figured it out. I thought I would share this maybe it helps someone
Happy Holidays Everyone!!!
I've got a squeak at certain RPM's on less than quality roads that I thought was near the glove box.
It's louder when the engine is cold on a cold day.
My brother was in the passenger seat coming back from visiting family Tuesday evening and it wasn't the glove box but he couldn't tell where it was coming from before it disappeared when we got to highway speeds.
We both think it's inside the dash though and to the right of the radio area.
It's annoying but at least it goes away and I have a fear of someone tearing into my dash over a squeak that typically stops with a warm engine.
I envision a worse squeak after it's put back together so I attempt not to complain about it too much (until others bring it up).
At one time I had a squeak in the passenger seatbelt latch where it mounted to the seat frame that would stop if you held on to it but that went away on it's own.
I've got some rattles too but it's that squeak blackbeast pointed out that bothers me ...We live on a long dirt road then drive way was paved with millings about 10 years ago, half of which have crumbled. Can only drive about 10 mph on driveway. The squeak comes from under dash / steering column at constant speeds on rough roads. I can make mine go away by pushing in plastic around left knee. Haven't been able to pin point in garage yet.
I get a squeak that seems to come from my steering column, and that happens at any speed. It goes away when I push or pull hard on the wheel while driving. When I first noticed it, I thought it might be the plastic covering the gauges, but when I took it to the dealer they said they didn't notice anything. They probably couldn't even hear it. More recently, the plastic dash near the driver's side A-pillar is starting to rattle. Would've thought a higher end truck would've been built more solid! :/

This squeak has caused me to rip apart my dash. My fix? I have a cold chisel wedged between the windshield glass and the dash right in front of me. No more squeaky. And, I know where my chisel is if I need it.
I have two solutions: 1) Put something in back that will rattle loudly .... you know where it is coming from and are psychologically satisfied; 2) Turn down, or off, my hearing aides .... don't hear it, no problem. It does bother the passengers, though.
Your description of the sound and occurring on certain types of roads is exactly the scenario from the door rattle. And the sound can also fool you to think its coming from the adjustable seat belt mechanism.
Try it... You might be surprised!
Nope, not the cure....already did that.
I have same rattle coming from my passenger pillar.
I had that same rattle. It's the passenger front window. I haven't gone into to fix it yet but if you roll the window down, it goes away. I go up and down a bunch of times until it goes away. Dealer can't find it but I did. Dealers hate this kind of work
I've had this off/on rattle that was driving me nuts! I thought the dash was rattling and when the noise occurred I would push down on everything, still there. Stumbled on it just last week, I got frustrated with the rattle and happened to notice my rear view mirror needed adjusting and when I grabbed the rear view mirror the rattle stopped. Installed a little plastic wedge between the mirror bracket and windshield.
My right rear door-area has a rattle that only occurs on certain roads. Also, the console latch will rattle as well, I just hold it when I'm driving until I get on a smoother road. But that back door thing is driving me nuts, have thought of the Epic mod for it.
for the console just use a little bit of weather stripping and that holds it firm and quiet. The back door may be the weather seals.
My truck made lots of noise. I tried epics thing but it didn't change much. I dabbed a small bead of lithium grease around all the door seals to soften the rubber up and it did great. My Superduty is finally quiet as a lexus. That window rattle pops up every now and then but I just go up and down until it goes away. I need to take the panel off and go find it but have been too busy to fool with it, especially when the noise goes away when putting window down and back up real fast
