To your earlier question on the cut and add, I would try to T off from the block or intake for the aftermarket temp gauge. I have that cut and add for the rad hose, and I must say, not very interested in it any more. It's not bad if you don't plan on replacing the hose soon, but as expensive as these hoses are, when I have to replace mine, its not gonna get cut. That cut just adds a weak point, it can bulge, and leak. I think I added 2 extra hose clamps mounted opposite of the closer ones to prevent leaks and a blow out.

Awesome advice! I will shy away from that purchase then. Will snoop around the net to see how others have added a gauge/probe and find examples of what you described.
First things first, with the key ON touch the sending unit wire to ground to see if the temp needle pegs all the way up. If it does then the sender is the problem. If it does not then the gauge is the problem.
So I can go that route with monitoring coolant temps...buy the "T", gauge with sender, plumb it all and done deal.
I would really like to add a transmission temp gauge too. Only question I have with that is, how would you mount a sender for the tranny? Is there an open port that I can use for the sensor?

Basically the same thing except you tap into the tranny cooling line that runs to the cooler. Most of those fitting can be found at the auto parts or hardware stores.
Nice....all the vids Ive found have been talking about adding the sensor to the transmission test port....however these have all been Dodge / GM install vids. Was hoping for a spot to install on the tranny myself....
