flame suit on.
okay somehow i got ahold of a dana 60 semi floating rear end. it has no brakes. im told i can use a e350 backing plate for it , but i think those are full floaters. here is a picture of the flang.
any help is appreciated.
Swapped a full floater from an '89 F350 into my '90 F-250 W/ a semi. I used the semi for a trailer so stripped the brakes from it. Had to do a complete re-build on the 350. It didn't seem that there was that much difference between the two as far as backing plates went. Where I did see a difference was in the drum width. I had a bunch lying around and some are wider than others. This will require wider shoes, of course, but I'm thinking that there might be a different offset to the backing plates. Best to get the entire assembly as a unit. I don't know if there is any variation between axle flange and BP mount flange but might be a good measurement to have when shopping.
Sorry about the delay. The holidays & all. Here's some dimensions: I'd go with +- .020 as I measured kind of quick. Backing plate hole dia.= 3.675. Mounting holes are .580 dia.
Width is 3.5 center to center and 3.06 height. Drum hole dia is 4.682. Back of axle flange to front of backing plate mounting flange is 2.719. They're from a semi floating rear end so they should work but it's up to you. let me know.
