3-speed trans ID

Need help ID ing a 3-speed. Currently its in a 53 F-100 but I'm not sure its the correct year. When I got the truck i found out the engine had been swapped to a 223 instead of the 215 it should have came with. So I am wondering if the trans was swapped too. The casting on top of the case is 1A-7006-A. I dont have a bolt on tag or a VIN plate. Thanks for any help.

Column shift or floor shift? Top-loaded or side-loaded? Can you post a picture? From the casting number I'd guess it's a plain old stock 3-sp, and there aren't many differences from '53 - '57 or so.

1A-7006-A is the number for the trans case only, it's not the trans ID number.

7006: As you can see (listed first), this case was used in 1951/54 Ford Passenger Cars with 3 M/T.

I don't believe passenger cars had the correct length or splines on their input shafts, tho?

From the number the OP posted, I can only ID the case. This case was not used on trucks.

It is a column shift side loader. The bellhousing does have the mounts on it. Sorry I cant post a pic. Merry Christmas to all !

slip yoke?

Resurrecting my three year old post here...Looking for a slip yoke for the 3 speed above that was not original to the truck. 16 spline, three speed on the column in a 53 F-100. Evidently the trans was original to a Ford car. I can post HUGE pics now lol.

Scroll down to 4841 .. slip yoke basic part number, specs listed first, then the part number below.

1949/56 Ford Passenger Car (A) & 1955 Thunderbird (S): B5A-4841-A

But, no Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has B5A-4841-A or B5A-4841-B or B5C-4841-A

I did find one that should work. It's not listed in this car parts catalog, but after you respond to this post, I'll post a pic, part number and sources that have it.

A lot of guys have used the more common Powerglide yoke, dimensionally very close (barrel is a little shorter), same splines, etc.:
Dana Spicer 2-3-1331X Transmission Slip yoke 16 spline for 1955 to 1964 Chevy Powerglide Transmission 1310 Series

Also easy to find at boneyards.

Ross, I checked my Spicer driveline parts catalog and the 2-3-1331X slip yoke you listed is the only one in the catalog for that spline diameter and number.

Not sure what you're saying, Mark? Do you mean because there are no Fords listed, it wouldn't work?

Note that post is for a '52, a truck not a car, but comparing the dimensions of the splines and the OD they are virtually identical.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. My parts books list driveline parts by dimension, not application. I checked my parts books to see if there was another option. There are usually different lengths available with the same spline and u-joint series. But, the yoke you listed is the only yoke with that spline, so this looks like the only new part available to him for his transmission.
