Most miles on a V10 Excursion

I am interested in getting an Excursion after having owned an Expedition for a couple years. I am finding that the Diesel, which is my preference for the fuel economy and performance potential, is more expensive than I want to spend. But I am also seeing some V10s for sale with upwards of 200,000 miles. I know that the 7.3 is known for lasting 500,000 miles or more. But what kind of miles are people seeing the V10 Excursions live to? Sorry if this has been done

I currently have 205k on my 02 v-10. Only non-maintenance items have been alternator. Hope to get another 100k!

I thought the same, I was looking at Diesel, but after much reading and taking in consideration I was not going to tow the Titanic...I went with gas.

The savings on the Diesel vs the Gas was not much after you take in consideration maintenance. Mine has over 230K starts and drives like a charm, seen a few on the 300K.

When it goes Im sure the cost on RR the Gas will also be lower than RR the Diesel.

Its all about the Mission your X will be doing. Happy Holidays.

My V-10 has just 141K on her. I keep thinking of selling her and buying a diesel because I pull vehicles alot. After pulling this past week im happy with the pulling power of the V-10. I know a diesel has more torque but the V-10 is good enough for towing. I wouldnt buy a V-10 with alot of miles like over 200K, thats just me. Im not an expert and maybe the V-10 can go 300 or 500K..... just look around and try to find one with the lower miles.... my 2 cents....

202k on the 99 f350 I have. Pulls a 30' horse trailer no issues. I think it has more issues inregards to how it was maintained.

Mine has 196534 today and I just got it in June or July. I did spring mod with a little extra lift, flushed the tranny and transfer case. I just had to do COP on cylinder #4. Thats it so far.

I'll poke my head in and say that just because a vehicle has high miles, doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad news. All it really means is that the PO wasn't afraid to drive it anywhere. (Especially if it was a one owner)

Be it V10, 7.3, or 6.0, they are designed to last as long as they're properly maintained.

Carry on...

Paul I sent you an email (two weeks ago) and I know for a fact you got it....you need to stop talking to Mods and start talking to me period. DO NOT bring anything up in the forum or PM or...you and I had that agreement, and when I need to bring it up in open forum it pisses me off because you will not answer my email....I will not wait days for your reply .
