lockset problems

my PO removed interior lock parts and tossed them. I have replaced the cylinders and want to connect to the latch mechanism 21812.
I purchased from Ford part # C1TB8122152B door rod. Notice one end has a hook and not a "double bend". When installed as per body illustration, the rod does not work. With the cylinder hooked up inverted (so the lever faces the rear of the truck), it will unlock the door -but not lock the door. Its within fraction of inches - but the hook rides up in the connector 21952.

Its obvious to me that the illustration may not show the relation of it actually in the door.

First: Is the part wrong for 1966 an I should fabricate one with "double bend" to push the actuator correctly
Second: can someone show me a picture of theirs or drawing of the correct relation of these parts, so I can fabricate the rod? (Does the lever from the cylinder point forward or backward)

C1TB-8122152-B = Parts catalog pic is correct as to how the parts are installed / R/L same: 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1963/69 N/NT/T500/1100 / 1967/69 F800/1000.

Notice in the parts catalog pic that there are two different clips: The type that connects the rod to the latch is right or left specific.

The type that connects the rod to the cylinder is the same right/left.

Hi Scott.

Here's pics of my latches from my 66 with clips attached.

There's no double bend in these and I know they work. The rod you have looks fine. I can measure mine if it would help - take pics next to a tape measure perhaps. Let me know.

Also, I have the smaller clips 21954 that go on the tip of the door locks. $4 for a pair shipped to you. Never used. NOS. PM me if interested.

Not positive, but I'd think these are the other clips. But they have minimum $30 order. Might be able to find these at your local auto body supply store.

Edit: Well, they look correct, but they say for 3/16" bar and this is more like 1/16" or maybe 3/32".

Thanks all for the info. ND - just knowing the illustration is correct, the rod had to be longer to work. But thankfully TA455HO has the lever clips that extend the rod to the correct length.
Where you got these, I'll never know. My internet skills are limited and the local Ford dealer said none were available. also said #21952 (Left & Rgt)was unavailable. I did find the rods in OHIO but was stymied on the installation. My head needs to be 4" wide to see.

These refurbishments of the 1966 has been fun, but I find my skill levels lacking.

Thanks all-- TA455HO - I PM'ed you.

Merry Christmas FTE Forum

ND, I did go back and look at the body illustration. You said notice that the part #21952 is right and left. As usual your are right, but to me with only one number I would not have noticed that.

Are there any 21952 clips available, I'm near Tampa FL (not OHIO)?

Scott - if you want to get those 21954 clips from one of those vendors that'll be OK with me. NOS Parts LTD wants $4.50 each and that doesn't include shipping, which for me is about $14.50. I'll get you 2 for $4.00 which includes shipping. I'll PM you back.

Chad, I absolutely want the 29154 clips from you. I had pm'd you and appreciate your offer greatly.
ND was asked if he knew where the other end 21952 & 3 (right and left) were since I had tried to get them with the Rod (22159) previously.

Sorry for any mixup- I'll get these doors to lock yet
