My '94 F250 decided that it no longer liked my key and wouldn't turn. It has been loose for some time now so I decided to replace the lock. As I couldn't turn the key, I drilled the pin and the lock came out. However, the "tab" on the end of the lock has broken off inside and it seems there are little plates in that slot that will not let it come out. Is there a way to remove this? Do I have to pull steering wheel etc. and go in from that direction? Perhaps this tab is what makes the actuator thing I have been reading about move and it could be locked up?
The lock cylinder is out of the column. However on end of the new one is a small tab, like a skeleton key(both sides) which has broken off of the old one and still inside the column. There are small plates that keep it from coming back out. How can I get those to move out of the way?
I can just get ahold of it with some long needle nose but again there are stops that keep it from coming out. I could NOT turn the key in trying to get the lock out, and maybe I need to somehow get this part to turn and the plates will get out of the way?
