Bully Dog tuner

I was thinking about buying a bully dog tuner off this guy but wanted to get some input from here about them. First off let me say I have a 04 F250 with the 6.0 diesel with 180,000 highway miles. I have had a cousin who had issues with transmission problems on his ford and a brother in law on his dodge and they both had the tuner on the truck. So my question is what are the pros and cons of having one installed on my truck? I do tow a boat and camper from time to time.

You'll eventually end up having transmission problems too. BD is junk for a 6.0l. There are much better options available.

I would NOT put a bullydog tuner on a 6.0. PERIOD. The BEST tuner for a 6.0 is SCT. It won't leave your PCM full of garbage like the bullydog will.

when you say Ill eventually have proubles to, is that because of the tuner or just the fact of the truck getting older? What are the options you would recomend?

SCT is the only tuner I would recommend, and what most everyone on here will recommend. There are several good custom tunes available for them, but the canned tunes that come with the SCT tuners are pretty good too.

Whatever you go with, it is always a good idea to have a set of guages to monitor what your engine and trans are doing.

buy some tunes from matt at gearhead, in texas. you can get the SCT from
him, as well.

flush the bullydog.

for that matter, in my junk box, i have a banks IQ and economind
you can have, for free. seriously. i paid $800 for it. wasn't my brightest
idea.

you can take all the money you save getting it for free, and put it
towards your transmission rebuild. i've been trying to give it away
for a year now, but no takers.

a lot of "tuners" just fuel the motor without coordinating upshifts
with defueling, so you beat the **** out of the transmission.

Tow in stock settings or custom transmission tow files only. SCT is the recommended tuner of choice for the 6.0L
