Checking Transmission Fluid Levels?
My truck just had it's check up at the dealership. On the slip it stated ATF fluid on rear housing. The tech said "No big deal maybe take a better look and maybe replace rear gasket later down the road". So first where is the check hole as I know there is no dip stick plus I think you use your finger to figure level. How far up should it be? I go over my truck about once a month looking for stuff and would like to include in my inspections. Thanks Chris

I just had my oil changed today by dealer. 38,000 mi. They showed me my transmission fluid. It was grey, not red. They recommended trans fluid change at 30,000 mi. Didn't have time to have it done. Went home rotated my tires. Looking around I saw a wet area around transmission pan mostly rear area. Brought back to dealer, just to show them. Tech confirms wet area. So I will need a transmission fluid change, Replace pan gasket. Cost $259, includes filter. I even pulled plug and checked fluid my self, it needs changing.
