Plugs & Wires
I wish I would have thought about new plugs & wires at the time - but I didn't.
Anyway - the engine has a miss - so today I ran to walmart (in an ice storm) and bought a set of plugs - they didn't have any wires.
The number 8 plug was black - it had not been firing the others looked OK some more gray than white - but clearly number 8 was bad.
I did have 2 problems - 1st - 2 of my new plugs were the wrong size - wish I had checked more closely - they were all on the same hook - so I could only replace 6 plugs - I put the two best looking ones back in the same hole.
2nd - I need new plug wires! The truck runs worse now than before.
Now when I hit the gas it hesitates & then goes. Since it was only the plugs I changed - it has to be the wires.
The truck runs great finally!
So - to date - my even up trade has cost me about $1400 to get it going reliable
NOt too bad for a bad weather beater.
Once I get through winter I'll pack the rust holes with newspaper & expanded metal so the bondo will stick.
Then it's rattle can city!
