Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all, ive been snoopin for a while and really like the builds and great tips and ideas. I currently own a 77 f150 4x4 explorer that ive been fixing up over the past 2 years, so far ive rebuilt the entire drivetrain, both diffs, 205tc, converted to np435 from the c6, installed a 4"skyjacker lift, rebuilt the 400 with a mild cam, headers, aluminum 4bbl intake and a eddy 600 carb, champion 4row radiator. on the interior I added a black carpet and a saddleman seat cover, the factory seat is mint! added gauges to the dash next to the glovebox. the body is as I got it, its gonna need some rear wheel arch panels put in but ive grown to like the scratches and small dings here and there the faded decals and such. if these trucks could talk man the stories they could tell and id hate to lose that by covering up all those scars with shiny paint. so ill let those wheel arches go a while longer I think. ill get some pics up for you guys in the mean time keep on wrenchin! dave.
It sure did, I bought it out of Washington state and it was fugly, skinny tires, hubcaps, massive front bumper with a spare tire hanging off the front of it. motor was shot, she was rode hard and put up wet. every single gasket and seal was leaking so I decided then and there to start at the front and work to the rear. now it runs and drives sooo nice. everything underneath is new or rebuilt but up top it still has the what looks to be original paint and decals, dings and scratches which has grown on me and wouldn't want it any other way!
Thanx for all the kind words guys! up next is a complete weatherstrip overhaul, drivers window rattles when hitting bumps and I have a whistle coming from somewhere that's driving me nuts! ive looked at LMC and JBG for wheatherstrip kits and they offer them I know but hows the quality? im open to suggestions as to where to get a good quality weatherstrip kit. im lookin to replace all of em, once and done! thanx again guys.
I just did the JBG door kit, division bar, top and back one piece for the door glass and the anti rattle inner and outer. Great price, fit and quality product I will use again for the next truck.
I have been wanting to install new door window weatherstripping. Here on FTE it seems most like both the JBG and Precision kits.
I spoke with JBG about their kits and asked the who the MFG of their kits was.
Response below:
"The seal we have made specifically for us. We have been selling them for the past 15 years and used them on all of our restorations. They seal up extremely well and fit as nice as the OEM."
I decided to go ahead and the the JBG stuff.
My wonderful wife ordered the Deluxe Beltline Kit and the Vent Window Kit for my Christmas present.
Hopefully I will have a little time between Jan-April to work on the truck.
