I had an epiphany tonight - I'm going to compile an "Expedition Owner's Bible" - a collection of how-tos, tricks of the trade, and other Expedition-related nuggets of information (like the "heater hose fix for the intake whistle, battery reset for quieting the exhaust, etc). I'm also going to include pictures of various activities (hint: a play by play on changing spark plugs...) as well as snippets of conversations here on the forum. My goal is to create the "must-have" publication for every Expedition owner - and here's the kicker - totally free. If it's good enough (I promise I'll put my full writing ability into it), maybe I (we?) can finagle Ken into publishing it in the "Tech Articles" section.
BTW - Buzzard, RTPJunior, Tyger25, and Racerguy, I expect you guys to each contribute something. You already know too much for your own good, might as well let it out!
So what do you guys think?

That's a great idea, but be cautious. I'm a professional writer, and I have a tip for you. See a lawyer and explain to him/her what you want to do, and from where you will be getting your material . There are ins and outs, do's and don'ts to quoting others, even from public forums.
You don't want to work hard with good intentions, then have some jerk sue you for using his/her words, or misquoting him/her, causing injury or property damage via misinformation, or contributing to copyright infringement, etc. etc. We have way
too many lawyers and law suits in our society to do good things without thought of vultures looking for your innocent mistakes.

It's happened to friends I know.
But isn't the forum information essentially Ken's property since he owns the hard drive that the information was "donated" to?
I certainly hope nobody here on FTE would sue XXL for quoting something they said in a public forum. Besides, I'm poor!
If there is a very real danger of getting pooped on by somebody here, I may just present the information in a public knowledge format, and not quote anybody. I will have a "special thanks to" section in the begining, though...
I think it's a great idea, I mean it is essentially an abridged version of this forum. You just save the hassle of searching threads. I really like helping other people, but if I see another question about which exhaust to get I may go postal..........................just kidding, but you get the idea. The guide could have some sort of disclaimer stating that these are just suggestions/experiences of fellow owners, and all mods/repairs should be checked with a Ford dealer or ASE cert. mechanic. A cool gimmick could be to have all contributors who make the guide get a pic of their truck in it or something........

That's right on - an abridged version of the forum. That way, we'll have a concrete, no-nonsense solution to changing spark plugs - no more listing tools, swapping techniques, or whatever - it'll all be in the EOB.
I'd like to put pictures of everybody in there - since we all live too far apart, we can't get together and have a BBQ, so this is the next best thing. Plus, we'll all get to see what we look like!
I've heard disclaimers are very good for this sort of 'information posting' on a website. As I understand, as long as there is a disclaimer that the site is simply where the information is shared then you should be OK.
KR1 - nope, I don't fly BlackHawks. I fix computers though! I actually got the name from the hockey team about 11 years ago as a nickname and it stuck.
I'm game. Here's a question though. Is this going to be a hard copy, or like an archive on the site? Nevermind....You were hinting on publishing, so I'm an idiot. So, who pays for shipping?
I guess you could set up a Pay-Pal account to cover shipping. I think we get into the copyright laws and legal issues when we try to sell it.
Let's get something going.

I actually wanted to put it on the site, probably in MSWord format. That way, it can continue to evolve here on FTE.
