2011 F-350 6.7L. Three years old. 60,000 miles. The lights and radio work, but she won't turn over. Tried a jump start from a car with no response from truck. Wrecker coming. Any suggestions appreciated
That's no way to start the day BlueHeron.
Might need a little more information. When was the last time you started it, any signs of previous problems, did it try to turn over at all or no sign of life, did the lights dim when you bumped the key, which battery did you jumper to..?
Resolved! Pulled her up onto the bed of the wrecker, attempted to start and was successful. Concluded that starting motor had frozen (quite cold here) and that movement had released it. This is the first winter that the truck has seen. Its always been in Florida at this time of year - perhaps it's sending me a message. <g>
Had you driven through water just prior to a hard freeze? I ask because years ago I had a Mustang and was in northern Michigan in mid-january. during the day was a warm-spell, and had driven through a larger puddle, and then parked it for the night. The temp took a nose-dive(near zero), and the next morning when I started it, one of the belt pulley's had frozen in place. Burned the belt up until it broke before I could figure out what was going on.
I have had that happen as well BlueHeron, happens ofter on our vehicles, all makes and models, driver through some snow when the engines hot, then park and shut it off, the snow will melt, get everything wet, then freeze. It helps to let it idle a while before shut down, to melt all the water off. Just my two cents, does happen lots to us.
Turn to start and no crank, no glow plug light and no fuel pump.
For me it is definately not a frozen starter....... it does it in the summer too.
For me, every time it is resolved by either just taking the key out and opening the door so everything turns off and trying again OR shifting from P to N and back to P again.
It's really anoying.... my dealer will not look at it because "I did too much to my truck" and the day they told me that IS the last day I will EVER go there.
This AM it added a new twist.... Started fine on remote starts. Went out and and put key in and turned to run and it died instantly. 5 minutes of shifting and getting in and out later... it started.
I am not done with this one and I don't think you are either.... good luck
Until today it has always just not started. No glow plug light, no fuel pump and no crank. But today it was running on remote start then died as soon as I turned the key to run. Then it would not re start, with the key or remote start.
