Alternator charging issue

HI guys - 91 Bronc 5.0 auto trans auto hubs

I just had the engine replaced - I bought the beater with a rod knocking & had a local shade tree drop in a junk yard replacement.

Lucky for me the JY engine had been rebuilt - it runs strong.

BUT.....you get what you pay for.

The alternator does not charge at all. I found a broken thingy & I'm not sure what it is.

The wire harness plugs into the bottom of the alternator. About 6 inches down the line the harness splits into a Y & about 6 inches up the other side of the Y is a plug.

That plug believe it or not is still plugged into something broken & smashed. I can't see where it should go or what it should be attached to.

Any help will be appreciated. I can get pictures later.

i believe that goes into the back of the alternator

what year 5.0 did you drop in and did you reuse your alt and such from the bad motor?

Reused my old alt. Eng came from a 90 f150.

Kept my old throttle body too.

The back of the alt? So is this a voltage regulator?
