1948 Ford F-1 Conversion to CrewCab
Has anyone seen or have a contact for someone who has attempted a conversion of this type? I have a 1948 Ford f-1 that I purchased 18 months ago. I have two boys and my wife and would like to fit everyone in comfortably.
I have found a 48 cab to purchase; however, I want to know what I am getting myself into with this purchase and dream.
I would appreciate any assistance.

I'm doing a '51 4-door extended cab with a 24 inch stretch. I looked at the crew cab concept but decided that the extended cab would require less welding and provide plenty of room for the family. I had already roughed together an 18" extended cab but decided it wasn't what I really wanted. There are pic's in my gallery of what I've done so far and a drawing of the 4-door that might help give you some ideas. This probably won't be a great deal of help, but at least you'll know you're not alone in your efforts.
Good Luck

Check out Jon's, irondragon79, gallery:

He is in the process of stretching a '52 F-3. He is working at a summer camp right now and might not be able to check into the forum on a regular basis or answer email. He is doing an awsome job.

Ok, I'm on my 30 hours of freetime before the next batch of kids show up tommorrow... Gotta love working at a summer camp.
Kerry, as Bob said, I'm in the process of stretching my 52, F-3. What I'm doing is stretching the entire truck (frame and cab) 20 inches to make room for a set of jumpseats in the back of the cab. I'm no expert at this, but I'm learning as I go, and would be willing to offer anything I've learned/mistakes I've made. Its certainly a very do-able project, it just takes a lot of time and planning.
Take a look at my gallery and see if that is of any help, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I may not be able to reply right away, I have very limited access to a computer during the week, but I'll reply as soon as I can.
and Bob, I don't know if I'm doing an awesome job, but I think it will all work out (ok, so I'm my own worst critic) oh, and I almost got the big dent worked out of that right rear fender.
