I bought a 1987 F250 4x4 5 speed with a 302. After about a week of driving it around I blew a piston so now I have a new motor put into it and since after 25 years there's no more emissions testing well in January it will be 25 so no more emissions so I'm going to do a conversion from EFI to CARB CAUSE ITS MY TRUCK AND I WANT TO.
I will be doing a complete write up on the wiring with pictures so if anyone wants to do this they are not going into it blind like I am. Hold on tight fellas cause this build is going to be wilder than any 8 second ride.
Here are my plans
Im going to repaint it from the body line down with bedbliner
I'm going with a two barel carb
I'm either going with a points dizzy or a HEI I haven't decided.
I am going to be running two altenators and two batteries cause I'm going to be running 8 fog lights and 1 tractor light
I plan on building a headache rack and pipe bumpers
I'll be doing nit pick stuff till this weekend I'll set the motor back into the engine bay and pull the trans and the t case out. While I'm doing this I'm going to split the t case apart check for chain slack worn parts ect. Stay tuned as Suzie Q welcomes her transformation
Oh I already planned on that. I found out the rear main seal was leaking and that so far none of the bolts were tight and the rebuilt 302 I bought is actually a rebuilt 289.
I got heads pulled off one of the gaskets were 'welded' to the block had to pry it off with a pry bar and the other popped right off and the gasket crumbled. Look at the cylinder walls and there is dark lines in it and no cross hatching. The old girl was so tired she just went.
Everything is looking good so far I I'm still kinda dragging my *** . I dad pinched a nerve in his necks and he has been on my *** to put in the front main seal in Hus trans. Plus I still need to rob the oil pan off the 302. I've decided to keep the heads they are in pretty good shape they are defiantly rebuild able plus I've wanted to get into porting so they will make good practice heads since they are dime a dozen stockers.
